Re: injectors

Probably any "new" and not rebuilt or remanufactored injector with the BB code on it will work fine.

Re: injectors

Hello everyone. I have been reading a lot of the post on this fine forum for a few days as I have just got a 1989 Super Duty with the 7.3 diesel........(it had the typical glow plug system problems and I can tell by the smoke level and sound of the engine that the injectors and timing need attention..) Since one of my pet peeves are correctly set injectors, I thought I would chime in with more questions than answers at this point.................I will be setting up my own injectors and I have not purchased a factory manual, so I need some information on pop off specks:

pop off speck for new injectors?

looking at these injectors from the outside, I assume the pop off setting is controlled with shims, are different shims available from Ford or will I have to make my own?

I will be taking a used set of injectors and setting the pop off to new specks and all injectors will be with in about 5-10 PSI of each other...............

After that I will set the timing................

Any info about the injectors such as the nozzle and pintel style would be helpful .........

thanks,
crossbones

Re: injectors

Wow crossbones, you know more about injectors than I thought of asking. They are so cheap that I always replace them (with DPS stage 1 this last time)

dunebrner, The injectors are cheap, go new. And get the return line kit and you will be good to go. Make sure you get the copper washer out of the hole when the old one comes out. And a little anti-sieze on the threads when installing the new ones.

Good luck.
Doug
