Instrument panel bulb replacement

the left side of the instrument panel on my '92 f350 is dark. Is there an easy way to replace the bulb in the instrument cluster?
Can it be done from under the dash, or does the cluster need to be removed?
Any tips?

Thanks----------Robert

Re: Instrument panel bulb replacement

You could also try some different bulbs. Try the #168 bulbs. They are brighter than the #194 bulbs that came in the truck. They work in the older dashes. I'm sure they are the same bulbs in '87 and newer as well.

Re: Instrument panel bulb replacement

The biggest problem is the plastic gets brittle so you have to be careful removing the dash when unpluging the fuel selector switch and the wait to start light cluster don't forget the screws under the little trim pieces and you don't remove the cover to the gauges if you look there are 2 sets of screws around the instrument cluster just remove the ones that hold the cluster to the dash

Re: Instrument panel bulb replacement

I have a 93 dually and I replaced all of the bulbs in the instrument cluster about a year ago. Just be patient, take your time, have it in a warm location so the plastic won't be as brittle. I replaced all of my bulbs while I was in there. I think there are about 18. They are cheap so buy 25 just in case. Change them all while you have it apart so you don't have to do it again for another 14 years!
