I bought my 1994 F250 E40D with bottom teeth of the flywheel exposed . The sheet metal cover is missing . I presume that it was left off after a transmission R&R in the past . What is that part actually called and what will fit from other models ? - Thanks
check the threads. unless i was looking at it wrong, i think the holes in the ?bellhousing? are threaded. I have some holes stripped and the sheet metal is just hanging on there with two bolts. So maybey thats why its off... Its worth checking to see if you want to rethread or not.

You will need one off of a diesel E4OD. The diesel has the bottom of the bellhousing machined off, where a gasser trans does not. This is to allow access to the torque converter bolts, since the large diesel oil pan blocks access from the front.
I've found out the hard way, that lack of this cover can ruin the starter when water gets up inside it.
