N.A. EGT temps/probe placement
I finaly put a pyro in my truck tonight, but was kinda puzzled as to where to place it. I know on a turbo rig, it goes pre trubo, on a N.A. though, a guy has to wonder. Where does everyone else put theres?
My final location was on the drivers side exhuast manifold, right between cylinders 2 and 3. On the drive home, everything seemed to work about right, Idle is around 200 degrees, cruisng at 65mph, right around 500 dgrees, and climbing to about 600-650 on hills. A full throttle assault in 5th gear brought it up to around 980 degrees, by the time I hit 80mph.
In contrast, my housemate has an identical truck, with the egt mounted in the pipe, just after the manifold, and has the pump turned up 3/8's of a turn. His gets up to around 1250(perfect IMHO)
Where does everyone else have theirs mounted in a N.A. motor, and what are your numbers..?
