NEED A LITTLE MORE TURBO INFO

A few more questions about a Banks install on my 93,first,is this an install I can do myself? I work in a cylinder head shop and build racing engines so Im ok in the mechanicly inclined dept,I am just curious how much of a pain this is to install on my own. Second, is the boost adjustable on these unit's? EGT look's like it should be kept 1000 and back,is this correct? One question outside the install, is dieselkleen enough as far as lubrication to make up for the low sulfer diesel fuel or should I be adding something else? Thank's. Re: NEED A LITTLE MORE TURBO INFO

The Banks installation directions are great. Just follow them. I have found its nearly impossible to install the turbo exhaust collector (the cast iron part the turbo bolts to) with the down pipe installed first. The cutting and bending of the body seam is doable in small sections too. For my thoughts it would be install the auto trans fill linefirst (if thats the trans you have) then the collector and then the oil return line and valley pan gromet. Then the turbo and then the down pipe. Use plenty of antisieze on all the threads around any heat areas and on the down pipe end that slips into the pipe that leads to the muffler. That way you can turn it easier to make it fit the turbo. It has a very small "sweet spot" that makes it fit just right. The last thing is the oil line and the cross over pipe. There is plenty of other small items but this will help you understand better. Some members have given there trucks a 2 inch body lift and that makes plenty of extra room to work with. Re: NEED A LITTLE MORE TURBO INFO

I used Hayes diesel treat for years and still do, I mix in some silver bottle Dieselclean in the winter. I have used straight DC but find there is black smoke produced when using it straight. Not nice for the trailer....

Diesel clean white or silver bottles
Hayes diesel treat
Stanadyne several different types
Then there are several if not more FTTP products.

Check out the individual company web pages for the one to do what you need.
