i just bought a E-350 7.3L shuttle bus. the previous owners said it just died on day, bled the lines and it ran a few more days and then no fuel flow. i checked fuel pump-good, lines-good, split the line and put 5lbs. in the tank and got nothing. when i pulled the tank it was all clean but along with the gauge sensor is something else with two wires blk and red/blk that the fuel line is connected to. What is this and would it stop the flow. I thought there was only the mechanical fuel pump so i am clueless.
We need info and if possible pictures of the tank item if it is still out.
Please be so kind as to put much needed info in your signature, go to "My Home" at the top of the page then "Personal info" click "Edit" put "all known" particulars for your truck/van in the signature block, any other info you feel worthwhile in other parts of this area. Fill in the "geographic location" too it is just as important, members can then direct you to the best known suppliers for parts, repairs, fuel etc closest you by location/ area/country. You could be just around the corner from a member willing to assist you or a parts store with what you need..
THANK YOU
What pressure did you get at the Schrader valve on the fuel filter head...
Do pressure and flow test on the fuel at the Schrader valve on the filter(FSS- fuel shutoff switch disconnected). Remove the tire valve core and hook a hose and pressure guage on it should see 4-6 psi when cranking. Then do a fuel quantity test same place, should see 1/3 pint in 10 seconds of engine cranking, route fuel to a suitable container with a hose.
If there is a problem with the lift pump and you are changing it, ensure the new pump comes with instructions as to correct installation proceedure if it is the newer model pump with the almost straight arm.
Was the item in the tank like an electrical fuel pump, about the size of a small juice can white in color or encased in rubber.??

everything has been tested good running off of fuel from gas can, narrowed it down to the fuel sender. Just have no idea what is hooked to the sending line in the unit itself.

the whole unit is about the size of 1lb.coffee can (not as tall) white with the float level sensor (two wires going to it) then next to that is a film case size gray (something) with two other wires and the fuel sending line conected to it.
Ok sounds like someone put a different tank or sender on it from a gasser. Does it look like this...... web page
