no speedometer

hi im new to this sigh and just starting to figure out how it all work... but anyway i have a 1991 ford f-350 4x4 5spd and the speedo doesnt work at all anyone know what to do to fix it?

Well, it's gotta be either the speedo head, the cable($80.00 at Stealership), or the drive gear or driven gear at the trans connection. The driven gear is the cheapest place to start($6.00 at Stealership). Pull the cable at the trans, tighten into a drill motor and see if the speedo head gives a reading. Not real hard to do this stuff. Have fun. OkieGringo

Thanks the speedo works when i do that so it must be the gear.

Check both gears at the tranny. I had the one in the transfercase go bad and it ate another cable gear in short order.
