There were 2 styles.... the old 6.9 has a radiator cap style mounted on a tube from the inspection cover area where the IP bolts are..... The 7.3 has a plastic cap that threads into the oil filler tube which is a moulded part of the timing gear cover...

Hate to say it but are you sure you have a 7.3? all the 6.9's had the fill tube straight up and down. All the 7.3's had it off the ip tower.
Take a picture of yours? Could be an international thing since you got it out of an international truck. If its the metal kind that has little tabs...i dont have any that will work for that. I have the plastic threaded one. The metal filler tube on the 6.9's was a push down and turn deal.
well i think it was interchanged then
i am sure its a 7.3 tag decodes that way and im but i found out it was not converted like the previous owner told me it was ill look at some of the 6.9 guys pics but i know its probaly not the right part now that would explain the constant leaking of oil around the seal and how its a bit small

Post the serial numbers on the top of the block next to the drivers side head right up front. Then I can tell you if the motor is a 6.9 or 7.3. Maybe even what year it is.
