Oil change

Hello all, it has been awhile. My truck is to the point that in the last 12 months, I put on 1,079 miles. I think I know the answer to this question but, should I change my oil? And if yes, could the filter remain or should I change that too. Thank-you, Nick

Re: Oil change

Nick there is a time issue too, if you do the mileage.. change oil and filter at 5000 miles...... for time I would use every 6 months if driven, but mileage below 5000 miles. Regular starting and driving for a few miles helps keep things lubricated.... all over the truck........

Always change both filter and oil.

Re: Oil change

Sitting is the worst thing, moisture builds up in the oil from condensation. It depends how often the truck is driven, if you run it every few weeks enough that the motor gets good and hot (I'm talking highway hot, not idling hot) then you can extend the oil change out since the water has a chance to boil out of the oil.

Re: Oil change

I do take it to town at least once a month to do just that. I will get it to 70 or so for 15-20 minutes. Nick
