The oil pressure gauge on my 1989 F350 7.3 has not registered much oil pressure in the 10 years I have been driving the truck but recently it seldom registers above zero. The dealer told me to not worry about it that it happens with these trucks. The truck runs fine and doesn't burn any oil but it does bother me a bit that it doesn't show oil pressure. This has been going on for some time now. Do you think there is anything to worry about? Is this common as these trucks age? Thanks.
Is this a real guage or the Ford "feel good needle". The sensor is at the back of the engine by the GP controller check the wire connection. See my gallery for the oil system pic.

My truck does this from time to time. Reach back there and unplug and replug the wire on the pressure sender. May be dirty/oily too.
I know it is lying when it does it, but just like you it sure makes me a bit nervous. Just waiting to start hearing the lifters clack or some other sign of no oil pressure.
