I bought a 7.3 from someone who could not complete a rebuild due to health problems. The engine is in parts. I have never worked on a 7.3. I am about to put the oil pump on the block and cannot determine if there is a gasket between the pump and the block. I have the gasket for the pump to pickup tube. I cannot find one for the pump to block. Is there a gasket there or should I just use some gasket sealant? Thanks.

You can cut a gasket from bulk or use something like perm-a-Tex. I would use something not leave it metal to metal.

There is NO gasket there. Machined surfaces to seal. DO NOT use any sealer there, like RTV.

Thanks! I figured the block was machined, didn't think the pump was.
