Just bought my first diesel. 1989 Ford F250 7.3 IDI C6 211,000 miles. Anyone know where I can pick up an owners manual and a service manual? Also I'm getting around 11 mpg empty. Is this normal?
Thanks

11MPG is in certain situations acceptable, at what speed and with what rear axle ratio ..... look on the drvrs door post label for an axle number....

93 F250 7.3 IDI S/C XLT 4X4 E40D 3.55LS, Captains chairs, Tutone Mocha, Leer 48" Hiboy cap, FR & RR hitches, full DeeZee running boards. Factory ordered/delivered Jan 93 has 160K+, it's basically a stock truck with all the Ford options, just no disc player.
Toys: 26'Jayco FK TT, 18'Sylvan Pro Fish.
Axle Ratio is 4.10 and MPG was driving 55 and 60 MPH. I don't really mind the fuel consumption since I don't usually drive it every day. Just when I pull my camper and I expect it then. Just thought it would get better empty. Thanks.

Those parameters with 410 at 60mph and a C6 puts you at 11 mpg most of the time probably loaded and unloaded. A sizable investment in a Gear Vendors product would give you the best of both worlds.

Keep your RPM's under 2000 for the best fuel economy. Unfortunately with 4.10's, that means you can probably run faster than you can drive.
Keep checking e-bay, once in a while they have CD's with the ford service info on them. I got a real nice one for about $9.00 that covers 93/94 year trucks. Also if you find someone selling Ford manuals on CD but not the correct year e-mail them and ask if they have one that covers your year?
