Parts for Headgasket Change Over

Okay, I have the go ahead and money for Headstuds, and the works. I am going to get the ARP Headstuds from Summit Racing, but what is the deal with the gaskets, should I stick with IH or get the FelPro Set? I am going to supply all the parts needed to the shop so all they have to do is replace the HG's and associated parts. I am going to start assembling my parts next week and try to get the truck down to the shop by Wednesday of next week or at the latest the end of the week. The truck is burning coolant, but there is no coolant in the oil, at least not noticeable on the dip stick. Either way, they are getting done ONCE and for all. I priced the HG's from IH and they were 220, and the full set from FelPro is 123 and 53 for the valley pan. Give me some ideas. Scotty

Re: Parts for Headgasket Change Over

There's not much needed, headgaskets, valley pan, head locating dowels (4 I think), oil, oil filter, coolant, sca/dca, and exhaust manifold gaskets if taking them off. I think that'd be it.

Re: Parts for Headgasket Change Over

I have priced out parts for the HG swap. International is 382.00 which includes everything valley pan and the entire deal, while the Fel Pro set is 123.00 for the gaskets and 53 for the valley pan set up. If you guys had the choice which would you use. I really don't mind getting the IH gaskets if they are better. If I am just paying for the name, I would rather just go with the Fel Pro set. I ahve already purchased ARP Headstuds from Summit Racing for 200.00 bucks so since I am into the truck for soo much now, I would rather put the best parts on I can afford and have piece of mind, but like I said, I don't wanna pay for the name.. Anyhow, fill me in, I need to finish buying the parts so I can get the truck prepped for the truck shop. Scotty

Re: Parts for Headgasket Change Over

FWIW Scotty, I just ordered a FelPro complete engine gasket set (KS2344 - $188.79) so for better or worse, I'm going FelPro.
