Although its not listed in their catalogs, ATS does have an intercooler kit for the IDI. About 1k in price.

I built my own intake hat and you may be in luck as I'm getting ready to drop in a Cummins 12v. So I will be selling the intake hat I made, but you will have to wait for about a month or so until I'm ready to pull the 7.3 out of the truck. I'm still driving it right now.

Hey Cam, don't give away too much.. Just kidding, Anyhow you can also get an intake hat from H-max, they have a pretty good design and will bolt right up to most pipe set ups. Scotty
not to worry Scotty, I knew that you already had the hat, so the rest is reserved for a Marine we all know.

Awesome, thanks Cam. Hopefully, I will have my truck back up and running in a few weeks. Then I can put the propane to it and then, put the darn intercooler in there. Scotty
The tranny is a zf5 and I'm using it until I can afford a 6 speed. The engine will be for sale, but I have already talked to someone about it not sure if he wants it or not. I will keep you informed.

Everybody says the ZF5 works really nice behind a Cummins. You will have to document your whole build up, there are alot of folks around here that would probably be really interested in doing it. If I could put a C6 behind the Cummins, that would be a nice set up. I already have the GV's so that would be in essence a nice towing set up. Scotty
Scotty you probably can put the c6 behind the Cummins, I'm not saying for sure but my gramps did some Perkins 6/354 conversions in the early 80's and I know on at least one he used a c6 behind the Perkins.
How difficult and how much fabricating would be involved I do not know but I'm sure quite a bit.

That would make a swap that much more painless, if I could use my drivetrain. I like the C6/Gearvendors set up. Really easy and pretty strong, and I am pretty sure the C6 would hold up pretty decent behind a Cummins. Man, I have got to stop talking to you, you are going to have me spending more money than I have. Thanks Cam. Scotty
Scotty, doesn't GV make a plate to put their unit on the Cummins?
If so, that should be a painless install...
Radcam: thanks for the word. I didn't realize you were adapting the ZF to the Cummins. Are there stock/oem pieces for doing that, or are you getting something from Adv. Adaptors or someone ??

I will take a whack at both your questions, the GV's itself does not care what it is attached to, it is the tranny that actually needs to attach to the Cummins, and I have not heard of any adapters made for that application, I am sure it could be done, and certainly hope for it, but haven't seen it. The GV is actually mounted behind the T-case, so you can do about anything you want in front of the Gv.
The ZF5 is pretty easily adapted to the Cummins, the www.FordCummins.com makes an adapter to do this, pretty easy I guess, and a few others on this site have already done it to their ZF5's. Anyhow, hope I answered a few of the questions. Scotty
