Power source for fuel pump

Looking thru my OEM manuals for a place to connect a 3-5 amp draw for a fuel pump, but getting frustrated....

1. where is a quick and easy to get at / down-n-dirty, ignition key-activated power source (so I can get running)?

2. what is the BEST way to get a power source (long-term solution)

For #1, I'm looking at the glow-plug controller (with an inline fuse)...

Thanx

This was exactly the truck I was looking for...

now 327,000 miles & 8 yrs (bought with factory remanufactured engine @ 119K miles)

14.5 mpg @ 65 mph cruise control & AC

Casually looking for a good used (secondary) overdrive....

Real trucks don't have spark plugs!

Get the main power from the solenoid on the passenger fender (with a fuse). I would use a bosch style relay ($6) and tap an accessory fuse in the fusebox for switch power. That will keep majority of the load off of the ignition switch. A little more work but worth it.

Do like RWF350 suggested with the relay but rather than tap an accessory tap the wire to the IP fuel solenoid. This way the pump will run even while cranking. This is how I plan to set up mine in the future but I've heard it suggested here before. Right now I have my pump on it's own switch coming from the drivers side positive battery again so the pump runs while cranking. This insures the IP never has to pull a vacuum. Once I have mine on a relay I'm going to move the existing switch under the dash as an override in case of relay failure.
