Pyrometer Question

I know this has probably been discussed many times, but I will ask again.

What is the perferable location to mount the pyrometer probe, pre-turbo or post-turbo? What is the best spot in the above mentioned locations; exhaust manifold, crossover pipe, downpipe?

I just received my turbo kit in the mail. It is a used Hypermax system from the mid 80's, back when they still used the single up-pipe to the turbo. I am rustling up hoses and grommets, and things like that so that I can hopefully get the kit in next week.

Thanks,

Bill

Re: Pyrometer Question

I put mine just below the drivers side exhaust mainifold, seems to read as expected, I think the key is to be as close as possible to the mainifolds I don't believe it matters which side.

I have mine in the turbo housing now. There is also a crack in the drivers side manifold, and if/when I get another manifold I'm gonna drill/tap the manifold and mount it there. Baja

Re: Pyrometer Question

Just put mine in this weekend. I put it in the manifold, of course, I only have one manifold, so I didn't have to choose which side I used the Hypermax boost/pyro combo and made a slick guage mount for it that fits on top of the dash, just to the right of the instrument 'pod'.
