Question about the factory turbo on '94 IDI turbo

Does anybody know what type of compressor seal the turbo on the IDI has (i.e. dynamic seal or 4 piece carbon seal?)

Re: Question about the factory turbo on '94 IDI turbo

I don't have the answer but I know who will. ATS turbo originally designed the Ford factory setup so they would probably know and their techs were really helpful answering my questions back in the day I was thinking about turboing my truck. I would ask them. http://www.atsdiesel.com

Re: Question about the factory turbo on '94 IDI turbo

Thanks typ_4, I figured it was probably dynamic as nearly all "newer" turbos are, and I hoped I was right since I already bought the rebuild kit

Re: Question about the factory turbo on '94 IDI turbo

typ_4,

Was that a Banks Sidewinder you rebuilt, or an older non-wastegated unit? Either way, where did you acquire the parts for the Banks?

Thanks,
Arthur

Non wastegated, I happened to have these on the shelf. I get parts from several places. alamo turbo in seattle, some times I find parts on ebay, nos garrett seal kits, t3 and t4 are the same.
