Quick response please - 1990 F250 Hauling Capacity

I just purchased an 1990 F250 7.3 IDI with 214k. New tranny was installed at 180k. Changed oil, filter, and coolant. Checked transmission fluid and it looks as clean as it came out of the bottle.

Have driven this vehicle for about 200 miles now and it seems to run great. No significant smoke, just a little black smoke if I punch it.

Tomorrow I need to haul an 1800 to 2000lb item for a 3 1/2 hour ride on a rural highway. No steep inclines.

I wasn't planning on using a trailer and will drive it easy (55 mph) once loaded

Any concerns?

Thanks

I used to have a 1972 F-250 big block and it didn't act like it even knew it when I loaded it with 2000#

2000 lbs is nothing, through it in there and do 70, that load aint nothing to the old beast.

If you can fit that 2000lbs in the bed you wouldnt even need a trailer, itll carry it no problem.

As above, a 2K load is nothing. Load it evenly in the bed, or if it's a pallet etc load it with the center of gravity just ahead of the rear axle. Remember your tiedowns. Inertia will beat gravity every time.

Re: Quick response please - 1990 F250 Hauling Capacity

Got back yeserday after a 440 mile round trip.

220 miles loaded with ~2000 lbs. Ride was a little bouncy but much softer than when empty.

Does this mean I need shocks? It sure doesn't feel bouncy when empty.

Engine ran great and some of the time we were doing 70. Mostly 55 to 65 which was not an issue. This truck seems to like 63 to 65 mph.

Thanks Again!
