Remote door locks on XLT

I heard from a friend that the trucks that have power locks are also ready for the remote locks. Since I leave my cap and sliding windows unlocked to allow easy access for the numerous times I lock my keys in my truck; is there any truth to the rumor that you can just plug in a module somewhere. I looked at the systems for sale on Ebay and it looks like a nightmare to install.

Thanks again
Roy

Re: Remote door locks on XLT

Door locks are not a big deal it's when you want remote start etc etc...

There is a new deal out for our trucks which is a number system keypad stuck on the door, which works I hear.......

Re: Remote door locks on XLT

yah, there's no reason you couldn't install a simple weatherproof pushbutton switch somewhere around or under the truck, to unlock the doors if you're locked out. It shouldn't cost more than 5-10 bucks, nor involve more than a couple wires.

I haven't scrounged wiring diagrams for this 91 yet, but the lock system on the 86 xlt was dirt-simple.

Re: Remote door locks on XLT

Hi. I too would like to have remote locks on my 94. Could any of the members tell me where the stock module is located on the 92-97 trucks is located? I have several good auto parts recyclers close and would like to pick one up. Brad

On 1994 the "remote keyless entry programming connector #C243" and "remote keyless entry module #C240,C241,C242" are under the dash beside the steering column

Re: Remote door locks on XLT

Thanks a lot for the info Punisher. As soon as it dries up I'll be hitting the salvage yards looking for a module and some other parts. Brad

Re: Remote door locks on XLT

Great. So what do you do? Yank one of these C130's out at a salvage yard, stick it in your truck, ebay a fob, program, and click away?

Re: Remote door locks on XLT

If your Ford vehicle has a factory remote door lock, you can add the keypad w/o much trouble. It sends a signal just like your key fob transmitter and just sticks to the outside of your door. It does need to be programmed. Some can be programmed using ignition key cycles, others have to be programmed using Ford
diagnostic equipment. It depends on the year and model of vehicle.

Re: Remote door locks on XLT

not all of the 94's have that module, or the wiring for it. Do a search, especially on the PS forum. DreammachineF250 has done a lot of research on this. PM him. Mine did not have these items, and I do not believe many of the 94's had it.

My pictures show the C240-241-242 remote keyless entry module would be located to the right of the steering column on the dash. Looks like the RKEM is second wire leadout off the main bundle to the right of the SC. The programming connector is on the steering column up by the wire bundle.
