I now realize that my old worn cables were putting additional demand on my alternator and also shorted out my voltage regulator. I am now looking forward to better fuel economy while my alternator spins with less demand.
FYI on batteries: Motorcraft Tested Tough® MAX and Duralast Gold both have 3 year FREE replacement with 36-100 month pro-rated warranties, both are $80 each, I went with the Motorcraft.
My $0.02,
Hugh

I can also swear by these cables. I just installed a set on my 86 in my sig and they did wonders!

I'm sure those cables are great. But since my batteries also have the side posts in addition to the top posts, I went from drivers side top post to passenger side side post and from pax top post to the starter. Works like a charm. OkieG

I've got 2 Exide AGM Spiral Wound 1000CA. No water needed EVER, and no acid corrosion on the terminals EVER. They're quite pricey though. Supposed to have 7 yr warranty. They can also be completely drained then recharged 500 times. Try that with a regular battery. OkieG
