Seats

Noticed that LOTS of aftermarket seats are leather. How comfortable are leather seats?

My Impala has leather seats... I've always hated how my legs stick to them and sweat in the summer... not much--certainly not as much as with certain other leather seats.

How do those of you who work and sweat outdoors like your leather seats? Maybe better to get cloth?

Can anyone comment on these?

Re: Seats

Mike,

I never noticed it much in The E, they were actually not effected by temp change as much as the ones in Sherri's Windstar or other vehicles she has had (she always seems to end up with the vehicle that has leather - Me I typically always get cloth )

Are these a true bolt in exchange? Will any bucket, bolt right in, 87-05? I would like to up grade my captain chairs, but worry they might not fit and I havent been able to find a link to info on this subject thru Ford.
there are a few custom seat skin manufacturers out there, but the price of skins are as much if not more than the cost of an seat exchange. Sure would like to see King Ranch seats in my 1990. Is there a difference between F250 and F350 set ups?

Has anyone travelled this route before? If so suggestions?

thanks for your time.

Re: Seats

This is of interest to me also. I have a bench that's in perfect shape but my wife hates it... has some back issues and just can't ride comfortably. What can I look at for a swap out? What will fit and what won't? Will excursion, bronco, explorer seats etc fit or are we stuck with F350? Thanks for the input! cheers! zip

Re: Seats

TrbdF450Beast, I wouldn't mind seeing some pics of your install.

And, anyone else who has done a seat conversion chime in and let us know the details.

I have the old bench seat in mine right now, and if I can find a cheap pair of buckets from a newer F150-350, that would be great! I don't mind drilling a couple holes in the floor if that's all it takes.

What did you use to seal up the old holes?

Re: Seats

I will get those pics to you as soon as possbile. I took and put the old bolts back in place and applied some caulk on the bolt and the floor pan then when i tightened it down it sealed up nicely. But yes ill see what i can do about those install pics.

Re: Seats

I got cloth bucket seats from a 94ish ford truck. I had to drill new holes, but it was pretty easy. If you have to redrill holes, make sure the seat is lined up right. My driver's seat is ****ed funny, and I get mad everytime I drive in it. I really don't want to drill more holes in the floor to fix it. But, the seats are really nice, and much better than the vinyl bench.

Re: Seats

Ebay has direct fit seats that range from clothe to vinyl to leather. They have some nice vinyl ones for $450 and there all brand new. Check it out.

Re: Seats

I would like to replace the rear seat in my truck cause it sucks..... I dont ride back there but some of my employees have to when we go out of town. I thought about getting some bucket seats for the back, or replacing my front seats with leather and putting the front ones in back, anybody done this?
