smokey start

Lately my truck is smoking when I start it up after The engine is warmed up. I'll drive somewhere 20-30 miles or so, shut it off the when I restart it idles rough and smokes. ( color of smoke is bluish to light grey)This only lasts about 15- 30 seconds or so but curious. Only smokes after engine is warmed up. Cold starts has no smoke at all and idles fine. Whats this a sign of??? Anything to be worried about? Truck only has 82,320 mile on it.

Re: smokey start

Are the original IP and injectors in it still......try using some fuel additives ie Stanadyne, or diesel kleen on a regulat basis. Have you drained the fuel filter of water recently(5000miles). When was filter last replaced (10000miles or as required sooner).

If you are going to replace the filter fill new one with fuel additive and install it.

Re: smokey start

Just bought the truck about a month ago, The guy I bought it from just did fuel filter, oil change, and new antifreeze with treatment. As far as everything else, it is all stock as far as I know. All looks stock. I thought maybe the IP was getting weak, seems to lack power after driving awhile.
