Spedo Gear Compatabiltiy

In tailwheel of Trns Case I installed new yellow 7 tooth instead of brown gear originally on Shaft and Replaced Sensor gear with new 21 tooth red canging nothing as far as teeth count. Thought all was fixed but failure occured. We pulled the Speedo sensor and small 21 tooth was chewed. We have checked anything mechanically and ruled out all. the question is are there certtain combinations of these gears that will not work together and is this what I have Done. I ordered this morning a brown shaft gear and another 21 tooth red which I believe was originally in truck when I started working on it the other day. The parts guys at dealership are in reality lost on what is compatible and what is not?
Anybody know about the compatibiltiy of combinations of gears? I know certain gear ratios require certain combinations for accurate speedometer, but accuracy aside is there combinaitons that will not work?

thanks, Remote

Re: Spedo Gear Compatabiltiy

Ask and you shall receive . What size tires are you running?
For a 3.55 axle ratio the output shaft gear is yellow and the driven gear on the end of the speedo cable should be a tan color.

For a 4.10 axle ratio the output shaft gear is black and the driven gear on the end of the speedo cable should be a pink color. Try this website to figure it out. This is all I have. OkieG
