Re: starting problem, ignition switch???

Ya know, i had this problem. Ya know what it turned out to be. FOr some reason when my glow plugs would light up it wouldn't want to actuate the starter at the same time. Ever since i put back on a push button thing for the glow plugs and can stop lighting the glow plugs when i go to start it hasn't done it anymore. It's like the system didn't have enough voltage to hit the starter relay. It's probably just because the relay is old.

Re: starting problem, ignition switch???

The earlier symptoms of the problems almost sounds like nuetral safety switch which i think is the mlps on the drivers side of tranny possible out of adjustment. Was there a certain spot that it always started at? The second part of the problem almost sounds like the rods in the column. Can you hear any clicks other then glow plug before it starts when your turning the key?

Re: starting problem, ignition switch???

When it wouldn't start I would always just pull the selector down and then put it back in park and would start, 2nd part there is no noise when trying to start, just hold key in start position and will hesitate then start, Appears to only happen when cold after sitting overnight, Will start throughout the day fine.
Thanks,
