Truck starts fine in the morning, glow plugs working well. If I drive it out to work for a half hour drive at highway speed and park it, turn off, it will start up again when it is warm. Now if it sits for about two hours, it just cranks and cranks and will eventually start to catch and start. cranks about 50 times before it will start. Now I work a 12 hour shift at the plant, at the end of the shift it will fire right up ok. Seems to be a progressive thing, if it sits for about 30 mins after runing it will crank about 5 times and start. What do you think?
There is a wealth of informaton on this site, but it's kind of hard to say what could be causing your problems without knowing what we are "looking" at. Most members here use the signature to list what they drive including any mods, It makes "over the net" diaganostics a little easier

I highly doubt it is the starter. It is obviously a fuel issue, just not 100% sure where, going to change out the FF today cause it is due anyways, might help, who knows.

I edited my sig, the truck is pretty well stock 7.3 other than a webasto that I use in the winter. New starter, water pump, rad, alt. 390,000km.

well I take back the comment. interesting, I will pull the starter on my next day off and get it checked.
Cheers
Quite often it's the bushing at the bendix end of the starter that's worn out and it has visible damage. If if it is a fairly new starter it might have other issues. You need to know how to pull the starter in this vehicle anyhow.....
