Starts, dies then starts after a bit.

If I haven't driven the truck for a day or more, it starts, runs for about 5-10 seconds, then dies. After 1-2 minutes of cranking and pumping the throttle, it starts up and runs great. Everytime after, it starts fine. Any ideas?

Re: Starts, dies then starts after a bit.

Sounds like you are the victim of fuel drain back due to an air leak into the fuel system. The fuel system is supposed to be a closed circuit.... no fuel leaks out and no air leaks in. Air will leak in where fuel will not leak out.... You now need to find the leak point so visit.......

Look for the fuel filter leak points and the clear hose check and you will most likely find the leak. Check my gallery for the steel line seals in case you need them etc...

Fuel return system is leaking air and allowing the fuel to drain off. I'm sure Pete will have the link to that air intrusion diagnosis/troubleshooting site soon...

Re: Starts, dies then starts after a bit.

Any updates on this?

I am having the same exact issue. It started about a week after i replaced the return lines, caps , and o rings, and has been doing it consistantly for a few weeks now (daily driver). It didn't do it at all for the couple weeks that my caps were leaking like crazy so i don't know is the two are connected.
I run WVO so i have a few more potential leak spots then normal. Just wondering where would be the most likely spot to check from anyone whose dealt with this before? I did a visual inspection and didn't see any leaks.
