Driving home today from 100 miles away through some stop and go traffic and everything was fine. Got on open state highway again and as I accelerated to 50-60 I picked up a weird vibration. I thought maybe a u-joint was going or something. EGR temp climbed to about 625 F unusaual for flat ground no load. Went to stop and the front end pulled hard to the left. I excercised the brakes a few times, and after about 5 to 10 miles all was fine and it did not happen again the remaining 75 miles. Anybody have this happen before? Most of my driving is on the highway and the brake pads appear to have about 50% life left.

well my truck has a similer problem i have a 1990 f 350 7.3 liter with an auto and sometimes not all the time when i use the breaks it shimmies and shakes... it feels like it has warpped roters sooo me and my dad went had had the whole front end rebuilt when we found out it wasnt that... the weird thing is it only happens sumtimes and when it does theres break lag.... but if u step harder on the breaks it goes away the only things we have left to replace r the break booster and the anti lock break system... if anyone knows what mite be causing this ide also like to kno
it also never does this under load only normal conditions
I believe your problem is a sticking caliper. I've had some success by removing the caliper and working it back and forth. If that doesn't work, you may have to rebuild the caliper.

You may want to try removing the caliper pins and run a small circular wire brush through the caliper/spindle. Carefully and gently blow the dirt/rust out making sure you don't breathe the dust. Get some caliper slide grease or white lithium grease and lightly grease the pins. re-install the pins, making sure that the tabs are contacting the spindle, not the caliper. Tim
Tim hit the nail on the head. I've had it happen to me twice, and both times it was the caliper pins. If Tim's method doesn't work, the pins are available at most local auto parts stores for a few bucks.
Make sure you use some hi-temp grease on them when you reassemble them.
