My batteries are getting weak. Time to replace them.
The previous owner put in Delco Group 24 675cca marine starting batteries. (Lasted 7 years, so I can't complain.) However, the battery trays look like they take Group 27 batteries.
What are the stock battery specs (and size)? Whatever I put in, I want to be sure the specs exceed stock.

A lot of us are using the Wal-Mart Maxx batteries (65N) They're about the best price, have a 3 year free replacement warranty, and seem to hold up pretty well. They're also rated for 825 CCA if I remember right.
Sorry to all the loyal 7.3 guys, but I traded my '91 7.3 in on a 2002 F250 Ex cab V10 4x4. SCT Xcalibrator2 with tunes by Powerplay Performance. 285/75/16 Toyo M/T's. Took a long time to get used to the ping-pop of a cooling catalytic converter...LOL.
'85 Bronco swapped up to a 302 4bbl from the 300 I6, NP435 4spd, NP208, 32x11.50x15 Radial RVT's, Soon to be 6.9 turbo powered.
86 F350 Cab&Chassis with a dump bed. 2wd 6.9 and 4 spd tranny. No mods to engine.
FYI 850CCA is the bare minimum per battery, Wally mart has 1000CCA I believe pretty reasonable. Don't get confused by seller gobledygook as to CA (cranking amps) and CCA (Cold cranking amps) this is probably one time where more is better.
EDIT Do check the cable conditon closely.........

I put 2 Group 31 1125 CCA in mine. They just fit into the battery box's. Only trouble that I had was lifting them over the fenders, they are heavy. I'vs had them in for 3 years now and never had a slow start yet.
444-4D I just checked your Tulsa weather it's 64.5 in Tulsa .. Well here it's -4 and snowing .. You can probably use 500 - 700 CCA batteries year around (maybe not even use the block heater) but I'll keep using my 1040CCA batteries

The original poster had an '87, I think they switched from 27 to 65 somewhere around in there, maybe someone knows exactly when.
