I think you have to use a "pulley Puller" or steering wheel puller type of deal. anybody got any other ideas? That's how I've always done it.

Yep, you need a harmonic balancer puller. Basically a cast block of metal with slots in it. Long bolts go thu the slots into holes in the balancer where the pulley bolts up. Then a larger center bolt is turned to pull the balancer off. Typically you remove the crank bolt, remove it's washer and reinstall it to protect the threads so the big bolt on the puller and push against it if I recall correctly. I haven't pulled a balancer in about 5-6 years. On some pullers the center bolt is small enough to fit inside the crank bolt hole I think. Check and an auto parts store, you should be able to rent it.

enjoying the thread. keep it going! Trying to get ideas on what to do with my IDI.

300hp to the ground is all we can hope for? Seems like high compression(boost killer) is the enemy

Yeah the way I look at it is if you have the money to buy a tool that you need for something you might as well buy it and not rent it because chances are you're going to need it again. That way you always have it at least. Thanks 88, I'll give ya a shout when I need new meats. The way im burnin these off, won't be long!

so if you got the compression down to 19:1. What kind of boost would you be shooting for?

20+ psi boost im not sure till i fully get all the parts im digging the holset out of storage this weekend
im debating the size of the second turbo should i use a stocker or smaller?
i think smaller than stock will limit flow

I don't know how the stock compares to Bank's turbo, but it seems like you'd need to go larger than stock. Back to the comprssion issue... I'm not sure if compression is limiting boost on the IDI or the turbo is limiting boost. I think 12lbs. is about all I ever got out of the Bank's turbo
