I was wondering how hard it would be to put a 1992 7.3 into
a 1986 460 gaser

Any thing can be done if you want to spend the time and money. If you decide you want to do some thing like that find a newer chassis. These kinds of swaps are money pits and you will never get out of them what you put in.

will a 460 gasser trans bolt up to 92 7.3 if same year
i would lick to find extra cab to put my 7.3 into to have
room for the grand kids to go camping

No, transmissions are different. You need to get one from a diesel.

the transmission for a 92 7.3 and a 92 460 tranny will bolt up somewhat 4 of the 6 bellhousing bolts will line up its the top 2 and the bottom 2. At least for a Z-F 5 speed i know this because iam in the process of starting this project and a friend of mine did the same thing an has been running it for a couple years as I was told.
