I would "think" you will need to switch the wiring....

Re: swaping cabs and puttign on a gasser cab?

im not sure about all wiring but i know the wiring for the ignitiona dn the wiring that runs down your steering column is interchangable, when i bought my truck last year the ignition was broke and i took a steering column out of a gasser and checked the plugs, and they connected and havent had a problem yet. im not sure about all wiring but i would guess some does and some doesnt.

All you need is to hook up the ignition power to the FSS and GP circuit. You might have to modify the wires going to the sending units to reach.

The only thing is you won't have a WTS light inside the cab...

Re: swaping cabs and puttign on a gasser cab?

Mr roboto, could you explain what the fss and the gp is? I am new to the forum and doing my first gas to diesel swap. We are going from 5.0 to a 7.3 idi in a four door 91 bronco. I have installed the engine already and am wondering if I was going to have to swap the harness from the donor truck.

Sorry to hijack you thread fordman.

Re: swaping cabs and puttign on a gasser cab?

Yeah i'm doin this same cab swap this summer... the cab i'm using is from a 94 f250 to a 90 f350 tho... i'd assume the wiring is the same as the older style---atleast i hope it is.

Fuel Shutoff Solenoid and Glow Plug Solenoid. They get their power from the same wire and are the only things you need power to for the motor to run.

There is really no need to switch any harnesses. There are many more wires in a gasser harness than a diesel harness. You just need to run a switched ignition wire to the FSS and GP circuit. I doubt both those solenoids together draw as much power as a gasser ignition does.
