When should the Tourqe converter unlock on deceleration? mine unlocks as soon as I let off on the go pedel regardless of speed, then as soon as I give just a little pedel it locks up, is this normal? If so I remember a post some time back that someone had found the TC lock pinout in the harness and ran it to switch to manualy lock the TC, does anyone know this procedure?

I know that my trans used to stay locked until i reached 45mph when decelerating. I pulled my car hauler this weekend and the trans was being stupid. The TC would lock up fine upshifting but when I push the button to shift down into drive, it unlocks when i let off the go pedal and engine rpm's drop to idle. Same thing, as soon as I give it a little throttle, it locks back up. When I leave it in overdrive and let off the throttle, it stays locked until 45mph. Where do I start? Would a FIPL going bad be the suspect? Please Help!

standard procedure for the torque converter is as follows. On acceleration, not WIDE OPEN THROTTLE, the T/C will lock up at 35MPH. It will unlock when the petal is let off at any speed. Shouldn't engage at WOT. It will unlock when the brake lights are turned on. Under deceleration, if lightly touching the throttle, it will unlock around 25-20MPH.
To put a switch in to control the lockup follow this crude schmatic
That is for if you want auto or manual, you can do that with one switch, but i drew it up for two. Anyways, it's the purple yellow wire coming off the tranny harness connector.
Or if you want you can just set it up for manual control. It's nice to have auto and manual because if someone else drives your truck you don't have to teach them how to drive it with the switch. You can just throw it on auto and tell them not to touch it.
Excuse the dumb question but what do we gain by manually controlling the TC ?
