Tracing down wires

I have come to the conclusion, after talking to a few knowledgeable people about my FIPL situation, that I have a ground somewhere that isnt supposed to exist.

Are there any common areas that I should look at to check for worn wires and such. Also, I was to ld to trace down the ground for the PCM which I am not sure how to do.

Will I be safe cutting the plastic that covers the bundles of wires to inspect them for wear and then tape the plastic cover back together afterwards? Sorry but I am no electrician and have little experience with electronics. Any suggests would be helpful!!!

Thad

Normally that plastic loom is already split, some of it . Just untape the end and see if is, then you can peel it back. Before you do see if it is worn thru where it crosses the engine, if it is mark that spot, that's more than likely where a wire would be grounded . The PCM ground might be behind the drivers side kick plate , check there.
