Trailer Brake wiring

Upon attempting to install my prodigy brake controller today (got some down time between when the old engine came out last night and the new one arrives tomorrow) and had some wiring issues. I'm having a hard time deciding what wires to tap into. Also I found a plug under the dash that was capped from the factory. #E8TB-14A624-AB Is this a lead for a brake controller or something else. I searched all the books and wiring schematics I have and I came up with nothing of any use. Thanks for any and all help.

Re: Trailer Brake wiring

Brian your truck will have a plug under the dash for the brake controller. on my old '91 it was a grey plug located just right of the gas pedal, directly between the firewall and the bottom of the dash. If you bought the wiring kit with the controller it will only fit in one plug. I will look for you at the next CCCRP meeting, as I am also a member. Next time your on 49 and there is a black fog, im not far away. hehe

Re: Trailer Brake wiring

For piece of mind I ran all new #10 wire for everything. The only thing to tap into is the stoplight switch.

Check here for more info: http://www.etrailer.com/faq/brakecontrol.asp

For the circuit breaker I went to NAPA and bought a 30Amp bolt on.

The directions from Prodigy told me not to plug into the stoplight switch on 89-91 E and F Series Fords...They tell you to tie into the light green wire in the turn signal wiring cluster.

Since I bought the controller off a guy on TDS I didn't get the original adapter so I will be making a stop at the local auto parts store come morning.....There is a little grey plug with 4 wires and 6 pins located between the firewall and the dash just to the passenger side of the throttle......We'll see what tim the tool man has for me come morning
