Transfer case problems....no high range.
Pulled the Jeep down to Richmond last night and stopped there before heading out for some wheeling today. Was manuvering the truck and trailer in a tight parking lot, and had put the t-case in low range (didn't lock hubs) just to keep from slipping the clutch so much.
I later took off to go across town (t-case shifter back in 2 high) and got to 3rd gear and the t-case slipped out with a very slight grind. tried shifting from 4wd to 2wd high, and still not moving. whenever it slips out of high range, you have to put it all the way back in low, drive for 10-20 feet, the put her back in high....and it only lasts for about 100 yards then slips out again...
anyone else have this problem? i've been into a million Jeep chain driven cases, so i'm going to attempt to tear into this one, but didnt' know what exactly to look for. i'm assuming that if there is a range fork it is working properly, since it does go into low range.
i dunno.
any help appreciated.
