truck stalls after you rev it?

Hey guys i have a little problem with my 7.3 i changed the injectors and prevous ownder had the timing retarded and the truck would miss and smoke really bad (white smoke that smelled liek diesel) i advanced the timing and well now no smoke. it revs up quickly but i noticed it wants to stall out as soon as you rev it and let off even when its completely warmed up it wants to shut off and will if you dotn catch it. Also after letting the the truck idle for a while whenever you put your foot into it it takes while for it to pick up to rev up. Its a noticable amount of time atleast 2-5 seconds. But once you rev it the next rev it will rev up nice and snappy you just have to watch and make sure it dotn stall out coming back to idle. any sugestions on this problem?
thanks again!

Re: truck stalls after you rev it?

its fairly cheap to replace the tach sensor

It could be that your filter is restricting fuel or you have some dirty fuel.

I guess its possible the timing could be too far advanced...on the mercedes benz diesel in my sig i advanced it because it was smoking white/blue. Turns out it just needed a thing over the vacuum pump inlet. but when i revved it, it would studder getting up to rpm's. Maybe your smoke and miss was partly from injectors?

Re: truck stalls after you rev it?

no whenever i had the problem i changed the injectors and it still acted the same way. the pervous owner installed the injection pump with the timing marks lined up. I know what they are supposed to sound like and everythign by static timing. i have done it before. I think the timing is about right i could advance it jsut a hair more but right now i think its pretty good as is. the engine when running sounds liek its idling as fast as my other diesel what idles at750rpm.

Re: truck stalls after you rev it?

The stalling when you let off the throttle fast is caused by the governor sticking. Running some lubricant fuel additive should help.
