Truck wont turn off when key is returned...

1990 7.3 Superduty

when I turn the key back, truck will not shut off. The radio turns off but the tach and instrument cluster stay on.
Any ideas?

Re: Truck wont turn off when key is returned...

First if you want to shut off the truck pull the front wire on the drivers side of the IP that's the fuel shutoff solenoid......my guess is you already knew that.

Have you had the ignition lock out at all. It is possible the ignition switch is out of adjustment with the actuating rod.

Re: Truck wont turn off when key is returned...

yea we have just been stalling it out to turn it off (manual). I checker under the column and the rod is actuating the switch. I think my next move will be to replace the switch.
