Truck's been sitting for 3 years!

I just purchased a 91 F250 4X4 from an older lady who's husband passed away 3 yrs ago. The truck has not moved since then. He was the original owner and has every piece of documentation for every repair! I was going to change the fluid before starting it, and was wondering. How can I prime the oil through the engine before starting? Also, does anybody have any other thoughts on things to do befor I ignite it? Maybe change the tranny fluid also?

Just drain the oil and change the oil filter. What you need to do is remove the diesel fuel from the tank, it's probably gone bad from sitting this long. You'll need to change the fuel filter, which needs to be filled with clean diesel before starting. You'll probably need to bleed the fuel system and by doing so you'll have enough new engine oil in the bearings.

Best advice is drain some fuel and check condition........was it inside storage or outside.

If you visit my photo link find the oil system pic......right after the filter, the system goes back, through drilled holes. There is a port just under the left exhaust manifold where the Y pipe attaches. It is located right on the back edge of the block. That is the first turn the oil takes on its way to lubricating the engine.

IF you disconnnect the FSS, then it will turn over and not start (Front connection on D/S of IP)

I would consider adding something to the tank. The fuel is probably not all that good and a dose of something like Diesel 911 might help it start. Have an extra fuel filter on hand just in case there is lot of crud.

It was outside storage on asphalt. I figured I could unhook something and turn the engine over.
