Re: Which turbo is on 94' 7.3 IDI factory turbo diesel?
Garrett made the actual turbo but ATS was responsible for the whole package.

It sounds impressive, but is their a cheaper way to improve the exhaust setup without having to change the outlet housing?? Doesn't sound like a real easy thing to do....or am I wrong? The truck currently has 2 1/2 inch exhaust with no muffler. Sounds tuff, but would like to let that engine breath a little more and was thinking about putting on some 3" exhaust, but limiting factor seems to be that small downpipe from the turbo. Not worth putting big exhaust on if the outlet pipe is the bottle neck to begin with. Is there a cheaper/better way??

Re: Which turbo is on 94' 7.3 IDI factory turbo diesel?
My truck had the Banks exhaust on it before I added the turbo. I did get the upgraded housing, elbow and down pipe. I was a factory non turbo and just added the turbo last month. The Banks DP may fit the factory housing. The stock DP is pinched and way too restrictive. I would start w/ getting the upgraded DP and just run 3" pipe for the exhaust. Yes, the upgrades are pricey, the odd thing is I only wanted to go thru the install once, so I have no stock turbo point of reference.

Re: Which turbo is on 94' 7.3 IDI factory turbo diesel?
On both my 94,s I installed the ATS housing, down pipe and exhaust. The difference is like nite and day. Ford butchered the ATS design by going to a 2.25 out let, then flattening the down pipe to about an 1 inch or so. When and if you install the ATS upgrade make sure that the down pipe housing bolts will come loose or be prepared to take off the turbo, also you will have to do a little fire wall mods (2 inch tube and bend back the lip) Once you have the exhaust modded look at the intake system (not enough air in) Deisels like air in exhaust out. Look at putting a good set of guages in Pyro, Boost etc. Then play with the boost and pump.

Is removing the turbo/turbo housing difficult? Sound like a big job?
Any idea on how much performance you gained? Do you have to use their entire kit, or can you just buy the housing and downpipe and then go to any local muffler shop to put on 3" exhaust?
