I know this has been up before I just can't remember.
How do you tell if you have turbo motor, (heads are off)
The small valve has a 3/16 looking round divit in the center and the big valves are flat, pistons are flat and have valve depressions down in the top kinda connected together with a small cut out, almost a B shape.
Is this a turbo 93 motor? The valve cover said so?

Check the serial number on the flat portion of the block, left side behind the timing gear cover and ahead of the valley pan. The serial number should start with 7.3TU2 for turbo and 7.3DU2 for IDI.

About the only really sure way is to remove a rod and see if it is the large pin type. The block serial number will tell what year and what the rods are but the only sure way is pulling a rod. Any rod, even 6.9 rods fit the 7.3. Pertty much all the idi internal parts cross between the 6.9 and 7.3. Why are the heads off this motor?

The two rear cylinder holes are bigger 1-6 are 4.1095-4.1115, numbers 7-8 are 4.110-4.1120
The serial number on the block should look like this; # 7.3D U2 U1 073312* with a T after the 7.3T.
