I just bought a 93 7.3 turbo engine to replace my truck's tired 6.9. The new engine has a factory Ford/Garret turbo and stock down pipe. I am looking to do a few upgrades before puting the motor in the truck. Does anyone know if the turbo housing upgrade from ATS is worth the time and cost or is the downpipe the only major upgrade? I already have dual aluminized 4" exhaust on the truck. I'm new to the turbo world so any help or sugestions will be greatly appriciated!

Everybody who has done the ATS upgrade has been overly happy they have. It is a good deal, bigger DP, bigger exhaust housing, just an improvement all the way around. How many miles and how much did you pay for your set up Sounds like you have a solid combo. Call Ken at dpsperformance.com and ask about the ATS upgrade, I believe he is a dealer and can help you out with the purchase if you want one. Scotty
I agree with Scotty. I've only heard good things about the ATS upgrade. The stock downpipe is so restrictive, it's almost a joke. I'd get the upgrade from the cheapest dealer. Shop around. Here is a LINK to the ATS site. The info in the factory upgrade is at the bottom of the page.

I just bought the motor complete from a salvage yar for $1500.00. It has 98,000 miles on the sped-o. It came with a 30day warrenty so I'm scrambling to get it ready to drop in and fired! My old 6.9 had 246,something before the sped-o quite last winter. For the money I've put into this truck I could have probably bought a new one but oh well. I tried to post a pic of it but must have done something wrong. Thanks for the replies and I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again VERY soon. A new truck will cost you everytime it breaks down and you need to have it towed to the dealer for computor repairs. The new injectors are about $700.00 each. Ours are about $28.00 each.... Nuff said>>>>>

Got my injectors a couple of weeks ago from a local dealer (but through ebay) for $175 for a complete set of new ones.(Buy 7 get one free? ) I checked a while back...injectors for the 7.3 powerstroke were in the neighborhood of $300 apiece.
A Cummins ReCon injector for my N14 is only $375 or so. And it will run 600,000 miles. LOL

Just an update... ATS upgrade kit and new pipes on the way! Still trying to figure out if i want to change all the v-belt pullys from my old 6.9 over to the 7.3 or if i should stay with the serpentene system and try to find a pully for the alternator. Any sugestions? Steve

Are you getting the exaust housing for the turbo or just the exaust flange? Somebody had gotten a kit from a place on the internet, i can't remember the name, it was 2 letters, something like J&H Diesel, not sure.

I got mine from ATS for $564.91. I talked to Mike in tech and told him what I wanted. He mixed and matched for me because I needed all the pipes on the motor but didnt need any exhaust pipes. I got the crosover, down pipe, and 1 or 2 more pipes. I also got the larger housing. The Price includes shiping to PA. Steve

J&H Diesel. Paid $545 for whole system, turbo housing, downpipe, exhaust pipes, and muffler. Due to some mixup, they paid my freight. Still sitting in my shed, haven't had time to install.
