Turbo; Van vs. Truck

I don't own a IDI yet but am going to look at a E350 and may end up with it. I have never driven a IDI motor and have been told they're gutless so I'm thinking of a possible future turbo. I'm not a speed freak and this would be my work van so I might not go that route but thought I'd try and learn something ahead of time. There is a F350 near me for cheap that has a Banks setup on it, can I use that in a E350? If not in full, what from the kit can be used and what needs to be fabbed?

Depends on whose kit it is. Worst case would be a little doghouse mod.
There are things you can do to an NA engine to pep it up.

I was under the impression that the kit was a Banks but haven't seen it in person yet.

Another question. I know a turbo is going to increase exhaust temps as well as engine compartment temps. Knowing that everything is much tighter in a van, how much of a temperature difference would I see in a vs. a truck? Like I said earlier, this would be my daily work truck and relaibility is the number one priority. I'm sure I'd enjoy the extra power but I don't want to do something that is going to severely limit the engines lifespan or reliability. From what I've read here, mpg shouldn't change with the turbo. Basically, is it worth it to turbo a van?

Actually the turbo will drop exhaust temperature depending on how you adjust your fuel.
Mpg will also depend on fuel adjustment and how you drive.. If you turn fuel up to use the extra air and you keep you foot in it for what ever reason(weight) Mpg may drop. I never fooled with fuel adjustment on mime as I believe some one had turned it up as it smoked like hell. The exhaust temp on mine also indicates enough fuel.

The NA IDI's are slow but they'll pull a house down the road. They'll give you twice the fuel mileage as a gas motor of the same size, they'll cruise 75 mph all day and they'll go 500,000 miles. What else do you want in life?
