Twin turbo???

Just out of puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure curiosity, what would it take to twin-turbo a 7.3L IDI? Could the block handle it? If not, where could I get some performance heads that would take the boost of a twin turbo setup?

Re: Twin turbo???

I hear the IDI can't even handle the boost that a chipped PS turbo puts out let alone a twin turbo setup. just my $.02 and what I hear, I'm sure i'll be corrected but that's ok.

Re: Twin turbo???

Also, I was looking around on Ken's site, and found the clip of that 6.9L lowered compression diesel. How did they lower compression?

Re: Twin turbo???

You can run twins, not much point since the heads can only handle about 15psi. I think Ken lowered his compression with short rods and pistons. As far as I know there are no after market heads.

Re: Twin turbo???

I also was going to go that route, I took two turbos from the 2.5 liter chrysler engines, garett wastgated t-3's if I remember correctly
was going to mount one on each manifold that would have consisted of seperate pipes to a 4"x8" expansion chamber with the flange welded on top. I still have the 3/8 flame cut mounting flanges that bolt to the head if you are ready to tackle this project.

Re: Twin turbo???

Alright, so now I am in a bit of a twist. First off, I love my truck, it's a 1991 F350 4x4, dually with the ZF 5 speed. The body is bad, and it has a little surface rust on it, but only 87000 original miles, so it's in awesome condition, except for the fact that I kind of like the SWB, and this one is a LWB. So my dilemna is this, either sell my truck, and buy an older '85 (my favorite body style) with a 6.9L (my favorite diesel engine), or keep my 7.3L, risk the big C, and run twin turbos. I think I'd much rather go for an early 80s 6.9L f250 SWB, and set it up with twin turbos, but finding one with low miles... So what do you guys think I should do?
