U Joints

Need some help guys! what is the easyest way to get the rear U-joint off of a 1991 F-350 duely. I tried using a vise but the U-joint will not move, can I put some heat to it?

Re: U Joints

Apply heat, or my favorite, take it to a shop and have them do it. Harbor Frieght sells a u-joint press real cheap. I gotta get me one now that I'm not living in the land of cheap labor . OkieGringo

Re: U Joints

There isn't much else to do. Did you take the snaps rings off? Some u-joints have the snap ring on the inside of the joint. I haven't done the u-joints on my truck as yet. Use a socket just smaller than the ID of the cap and apply heat and use a BF Hammer. I've done this in the boonies while Jeepin' , not fun changin' out bad u-joint(on someone elses rig) in the friggin snow. Sorry, OkieGringo
