water injection cleans combustion chamber?

Ok, so I have heard that water injection systems have a tendency to steam clean all of the carbon out of the cylinders... If that is in fact the case, would it be a terrible thing to take a spray bottle on mist and mist water into the intake for a short period to clean the cylinder occassionaly. Also, would it clean the coking off of my injector tips. I had an oops and was running 20% vegi oil in the tank with #2 diesel and it dropped 20` overnight and started really really rough. It has started kinda rough ever since. Any other ideas. thanks all as usual.

Re: water injection cleans combustion chamber?

My first guess might be a plugged fuel filter, don't think the fuel heater will act on that vegie oil.

Re: water injection cleans combustion chamber?

as pete said--20 per oil shouldnt have started hard--been there--and yes--water steam cleans--but not instantly--thats why need a water mist system--longer drive--not 1 minute blast--slow injection slowly cleans it out--so no big chunks break loose-and stick on a valve--and kiss a piston--which causes all sorts of problems--people that dont believe this-i tell them--ever seen a head gasket go--which cyl has the clean piston???right--the one where the gasket let go!!!!

Re: water injection cleans combustion chamber?

94 turbo,

I will second that motion, I have had motors that have had nothing but long hard abuse, and when they blow a head gasket, the cylinder look as if it were brand new(providing nothing else has gone wrong with that hole). I have heard of people using windshield wiper fluid in the water injection system, the fluid contains methyl alcohol if I am correct. I am not sure of what the alcohol does, but I have read some information about the water molecules being compressed, split to straight hydrogen and straight oxygen and causing that to recombine and gaining further energy from that process.

Re: water injection cleans combustion chamber?

I have a pulling tractor and I spray Windshield washer fluid in my water injection but it is mixed with water about 50/50. But the alcohol in the washer fluid burns hotter and makes more power and with the ingredents it cools the motor down and is not harm full to it. But I dont know if the windshield washer fluid would cook your glow plugs.

Re: water injection cleans combustion chamber?

Yeah, I do not know if it would either. The only thing I can say about that, is that there are websites that advertise the use of water/WW fluid for the 7.3 IDI. I dont know. Someone one here should.

Hey Andre, your puller wouldn't be a case 7910 would it???
