wath to do next

the shop that installed the engine on my truck does not want to be responsible for repair the leak on the engine they installed. jasper offers some shop to do repair on their engines, but you have to pay up-front and they consider wath they will pay from it.

i already spend $6500.00 to install a new engine on my truck and i don't fell like spending more when the engine started to leak at 5 month's after installation and the warranty is for 2 years unlimited miles.

wath to do instead of spending money?

i'll appreciate your help on this guy's, exekiel

Re: wath to do next

My take would be if you can find where the leak is and you can fix it without any major work...do it yourself. If it is determined to be major work then pay the piper and see what comes out of it. If your not satisfied with Jaspers response, put your case here and we will make personal decisions as to whether Jasper gets recommended or used by members.

Re: wath to do next

the leak is caming from the bell housing i believe. when another mechanic installed the luk fly wheel i buyed a main rear seal to replace the one that came with the new engine but the guy said it was new and dont needed to be replaced. at the same time also it was leaking from the seal on the lift pump wich was replaced that oil leak has stop but oil is still coming from where the starter is. i already check the back of the engine but it is clean (oil pressure sending unit, cdr). at the same time the engine is leaking from the front driver side in some where i have yet to determine.

jasper offered some shops but i have to pay and then they decide wath they will pay from it if they determine is their fault. they shop who installed the engine (they bought the engine from jasper not me) dont want to repair the leakage nor pay a shop to fix it.

Re: wath to do next

I think my first question to Jasper would be who has the valid warranty the shop who bought the engine or you.......

I will send you a pic......

Re: wath to do next

thank you for the pic, it'll also help a lot if i end up havig to do it myself. about the engine yes, they bought a complete engine from jasper and give them my old engine as a core for the discount.

now, when i call jasper they said that they can not make him fix the engine for me, it is my problem. wath they can do is recomend me other shops BS. so nobody wants to be responsible on this one.

Re: wath to do next

Was the shop a Jasper engine shop or just a "ma & pa" auto repair that bought a Jasper engine and installed it? Pete is right, the whole thing comes down to who has the warranty - you or the shop. Granted, one would think Jasper would do right by their customer regardless of the shop but...
Contact the Attorney General Office for Maryland. They would be the agency to handle consumer complaints / fraud.
Send the link and a "cut & paste" of these posts to Jasper via email. No threats, just a FYI.

I knew they went downhill when they started sponsering a Dodge!

Re: wath to do next

i can't open the link but i will try calling them, do you have the number?

jasper does help with places to go instead of the shop that installed is, but they pay only some of it. provably after i call the number for this place you said they give me more options.

mean while, i whent to BBB (better bussiness bureau) web page and file a case for the shop that installed the engine. a know sor sure they don't want to do anything else on the engine. they said they installed it right if the engine leak is jasper fault.

Re: wath to do next

I do believe that is the way some of the better engine/trans rebuild shops work, they have specific shops who do their repair work that way it is done to their specs at their approved shops.

Too much screw the donkey in the repair business unfortunately so this is the safest for customer and the rebuilder. If you are seriously concerned about the leaks, going to a Jasper recommended shop is by far the right way to do it...it may cost a few dollars up front but you should have no regrets when the warranty stays valid.

If you screwitup you can loose the warranty and you paid for it, so do it right.

Re: wath to do next

o yes, i already call the shop they recommended, today. the guys on jasper do help and i do hope they will pay most of the cost, don't forget remove tranns. cost around $900 here. that is the reason i feel abused since i paid for the engine one time.

i also want to make sure the shop that installed it will pay for wath they did, that is just mean. wich is wy i tryed BBB and the other one you guys recommended.

jasper shop recommended will be the best way to go i guess, now that it is still under "warranty".

thank you guys, exekiel

Re: wath to do next

here is an update on the truck leakeage situation.

i mada an apointment with the light truck shop recomended by jasper and they checked it today. they called me and said the leak is so minor that they wont worry about it, he have never seen an engine of this that does not leak (i would like to have mel there to hear that) and they wont worry about it is just waste time cause it does not drop on the ground.

it is consuming now 1qt. every 800 miles and THEY TOLD ME NOT TO WORRY?

now you guys are going to laugh, they said my fly wheel is going to break my truck in pieces, not long ago i made the conversion to solid fly wheel luky 12". i know that vibration is normal right?

i plan on going on a long trip on a few months, the guy said it's ok to go.

wath do you guys think about this now?

exekiel

Re: wath to do next

i forgot to mention they also said that the reason the engine is consuming 1qt. every 800 miles is because the cilinder sit (or something like it i dont remember) is not seated well yet but it will get fix by itself after 5k-10k miles. so i told them that the engine has 14k miles on it already, so he's answer was then it will get fix a 20k miles

wth are they trying to sale me?

I am sorry for the expeeriance that you have had. I am glad that I got mine from DAS. But others have had issues with them also. Keep it up. the squeeky wheel gets the grease..... The engines do take a while to seat in, but I would think it should be improving????

Re: wath to do next

Exekiel, I'd like to see where this leak is coming from. Have you considered coming out to Gettysburg at the end of the month to join us for a pot luck meal? There will be several of us "experts" there who would be more than willing to take a look and discuss this further.
