Howdy all,
Just picked up a '93 F250 ext cab, long bed, factory turbo, manual tranny and 4:10 rear - runs good/fair - need some maintenance. Gonna change all the fluids and filters.
only problem - the steer wheel is all messed up - the guy that owned it used it to pull himself into the truck - it drives, but scares the heck out of ya!!! So, do I need to replace the whole steering column? Should I go to a body shop?
oh, can I put a Tymar intake on this year of truck?
That is a common problem and I believe the best would be the wrecker for a good replacement.

Removed soup bowl and drilled holes in air intake.
If the tilt wheel is loose, You can pull the wheel and the turn signal switch. Then I believe that you will find 4 bolts that bolt the wheel onto the pivot assembly. Rempve them one at a time, locktight them and tighten them down. See if that fixes it.
Good luck

I guess the steering wheel problem is common when folks use the wheel as a handle to pull them selfs into the truck. I have the bushing that the guy who owned the truck said it needed. It doesn't look like it will be a tough job to repair. Only problem, if i screw it up, it will be hard to get the truck to a repair shop!!!!
My shop teacher is 525lbs. and has a 03 F350PSD CrewCab. And he pulls on the steering wheel to get up in that big ole FX4. But he still climbs ladders.
I never thought using a steering wheel to get in. I always hopped my big ole 6'3 255 frame up in the truck with out grabbing any thing.
I'd pull the steering wheel and see what's messed up.
