Well, I got my work/hunting/fishing Truck!

Howdy all,
Just picked up a '93 F250 ext cab, long bed, factory turbo, manual tranny and 4:10 rear - runs good/fair - need some maintenance. Gonna change all the fluids and filters.

only problem - the steer wheel is all messed up - the guy that owned it used it to pull himself into the truck - it drives, but scares the heck out of ya!!! So, do I need to replace the whole steering column? Should I go to a body shop?

oh, can I put a Tymar intake on this year of truck?

Thanks all -
Alex

That is a common problem and I believe the best would be the wrecker for a good replacement.

If the tilt wheel is loose, You can pull the wheel and the turn signal switch. Then I believe that you will find 4 bolts that bolt the wheel onto the pivot assembly. Rempve them one at a time, locktight them and tighten them down. See if that fixes it.
Good luck

Re: Well, I got my work/hunting/fishing Truck!

I guess the steering wheel problem is common when folks use the wheel as a handle to pull them selfs into the truck. I have the bushing that the guy who owned the truck said it needed. It doesn't look like it will be a tough job to repair. Only problem, if i screw it up, it will be hard to get the truck to a repair shop!!!!

Re: Well, I got my work/hunting/fishing Truck!

He must of been a big old guy!!

My shop teacher is 525lbs. and has a 03 F350PSD CrewCab. And he pulls on the steering wheel to get up in that big ole FX4. But he still climbs ladders.

I never thought using a steering wheel to get in. I always hopped my big ole 6'3 255 frame up in the truck with out grabbing any thing.

I'd pull the steering wheel and see what's messed up.

dt do you sit and watch this extrememly large man climb in his truck everyday or what? j/k but wow 525 is a very big number i wouldnt joke around in his class...back on topic my truck is equipped with a tilt wheel and has about an inch of play up and down its horrible, so re-tightening bolts may be a fix? thanks
