I was under my truck installing my new superwhamdiddly battery cable and noticed that at rest, my springs were about an inch and a half from the bump stops. I quick search on here showed several threads about that but I couldnt draw any conclusions about what to do. Should I get an addaleaf, new springs, springs from a different year, the snow plow leaf option or have mine rearched? I think I can run 35" tires with a little bumper shimming and some better springs, the back seems to have enough clearance already.

In all seriousness, to cure the sagging requires new extra heavy duty springs. Yes, you can put addaleaves in to raise the front back up, but the don't move the spring away from the bumpstop, so that doesn't help you out. Also, getting used springs from a different truck means you're getting used ones that are starting to sag also. It all depends on how much money you want to spend, how long you'll keep the truck, and if you want to clear big tires without a lift.

sawyer89...I have a brand new set of front springs that I bought from ESPO springs for my 93 F250 4X4. However, I sold the truck before putting the springs on. Paid $270 plus $65 shipping. Will take $200. They came with bushings in both spring ends. Still have the shipping wrapping on them. Spring Code 9A. I live in Hiddenite, NC. This is 60 miles north of Charlotte and 20 miles West of Statesville.

Firestone air bags get the springs off the bump stop and are adjustable. Mine leveled the front end and provide a nice ride. About $225..

dmachine...how do you like those springs from ESPO? I just visited their website. Seems like the only place on the web that really has a complete listing of trucks and leaf springs....particularly for our trucks. Did you get the OEM or poly bushings?

Bob...I did not install the springs cause I sold the truck before I got them installed. They came with OEM bushings in spring ends. I was pretty impressed with ESPO. Like you say, they seem to have a lotta stuff for our trucks.

The Firestone air bags might be just what I need for my 1989 F350 bucket truck. It bottoms out everytime I hit a bump in the road.
Would someone help me with these questions?
1. Where do I get them? There are no Firestone dealer in our town.
2. How easy/difficult is it to install them? Do I need special
tools?
3. Does the air bags have to be replaced when they get old and elastic material starts cracking? For the money, will the steel leaves outlast the air bags?
Can't help with 1 and 2, but having driven trucks with air ride for several years I might shed some light on #3. Usually air bags are made out of rubber and last quite awhile. On something like your truck where they are assisting the stock leafs, I wouldn't be surprised if they outlast the truck. On big trucks the usual repairs aren't to the bags themselves, but to the hardware that attaches to them. The fittings going into the bags, the valve that regulates the height, the plastic hoses...etc.
One thing to watch out for. If you do install them and raise the front end back to stock height, get your alignment done. If it has been aligned while in the process of sagging, then you raise it back up, it will be off.
By the way...where are you? If you're in the northwest, Les Schwab tires advertises a air bag kit that may work for you...

Installation is easy, technically. It does require you to drill four 1/2 inch holes in youre frame, thats the hardest part. With my 1/2 inch drive Makita, it took me about 40 minutes for the first two, and 30 minutes for the second two (got my elbow feed and speed down). I'm running about 60 psi in them right now, and I immediately felt a ride quality change for the better, little or no bottoming.
