What do I need to know about changing IP and INJECTORS?

Stage I's are on their way. I think the injector install will be pretty straight forward. How bout the pump, what about timing it, can I do it myself?

Thanks guys.

Re: What do I need to know about changing IP and INJECTORS?

Wanted to add it's my uncle's truck, 93 dually 5 speed, I added the turbo off a spare 94 motor we came up with, and I would like to get an intercooler on it in the future.

Will we need a pyro gauge for the stage I inj's and pump?

How much power increase can we expect?

I think it will be a big improvement over what's in there now, pretty sure the pump and injectors are wore slap out. Smokes all kinds of colors, white, rev it up it misses and smokes black, then smokes blue when you let off, it's much better when fully warm, but pretty hard to start and runs like crap til warmed up.
Are these common issues with wore out inj's and pump?

Should we also replace the lift pump while at it? Truck has about 340,000+ miles, but engines was rebuilt just a little over 100k ago.

Thanks guys.

Re: What do I need to know about changing IP and INJECTORS?

Thanks for the link man, is that for changing pump and injectors? I saw a little blurb on the pump. It helps to know not to turn the crank.

It'll be a totally different pump, so I probably have no hope of keeping the timing perfect.

Sounds identical to mine. Let me know if the new pump fixes it.

He has the IP article hosted over on the other site. Seems there's no cross linking. http://[censored].net/brian/idi/FuelInjectionServicing.htm
