What exactly has to be done for max performance?

I here alot of talk about getting your IDI to 300hp. If I were to put a turbo and big exhaust on it, then what else can be done to achieve this 300hp?

Re: What exactly has to be done for max performance?

A second turbo, IP pump upgrade, new head gaskets and studs to handle the extra boost, propane....

Lots of dough can fix any power issue...

Re: What exactly has to be done for max performance?

One hell of a nice turbo, 5" exhaust, IP upgrade, Ken's new performance injectors, propane injection, water injection, and you could also polish your heads/intake manifold...

Better get a pyro, boost guage, tranny guage, water temp guage, oil pressure guage, and Ken's head studs.

That would get you well over 300hp, but probably not quite into hte 400's...

Re: What exactly has to be done for max performance?

Hee hee hee.....Yo Ken!!!!Here is one for ya!

He has done well more than 300HP....would guess double if not more than that.

Lets see,
More boost(requires studs and intercooler if you go over 12PSI)
Lower compression(So you can run some Really high boost without blowing something out the bottom or thought the hood)
Port polish(it helps some kinda a last ditch to get every itty bitty bit of power)
One of kens special injection pumps with matched injectors
Dump the stock down pipe if you got a factory setup and both housings
Propane(yep grillin gas)
Water/Methanol injection(windshield washer fluid....Just not like Travis)
Nitros Oxide(requires Fire rings if you like to push the button)
Better flowing intake and exhaust
and a tranny to handle all this......Stockers ain't gonna cut it.

Re: What exactly has to be done for max performance?

What do you think you could expect with ATS 3" downpipe to a 5" system, no muffler, propane injection, kens injectors, turbo boost up to 12 psi and a factory IP turned up high?

Re: What exactly has to be done for max performance?

A solid 250HP or so. Ken IP and Injectors will give you a good push and probably push you into the easy 15Psi range, FAST. I wished I could have dynoed before the gaskets puked, but I am thinking with the propane and the IP maxed, I should have been in the 275 Range or So. Now, once I get the intercooler mounted, I should have a solid 275 or more HP. I plan on getting it on the dyno once I get the truck back from the shop. Trust me, Kens IP and Injectors are the HEAT. I can easily smash a 15psi Boost guage. That is awesome, now, with the intercooler, I should be able to use that boost. Scotty

OK, thanks...

What torque do you have?

Re: What exactly has to be done for max performance?

If I was to guess, I would say around 500-550, now that is a total guess, but that torque is very useable with all the gears I have it makes it very snappy when pulling and keeps my temps under control. The propane is also a nice shot in the butt. Overall, I think this truck pulls about as good as anyone could hope for out of an IDI. I know there are better and more powerful trucks (and IDI's) but mine seems to do well. Stopping is more trouble than pulling. Scotty
